What is Your Ah-Ha Moment?

I had an Epiphany yesterday. Actually, we all did.

Yes, yesterday was January 6 and yes, that is the day that "The Epiphany", the day that the Three Wise Men encountered the Christ child, is celebrated.

Historically the date is suspect, but that isn't terribly important. What is important is that an epiphany occurred.

Epiphany is a glorious moment of revelation; an ah-ha moment of the highest order.

What is interesting about epiphanies is that they seem to appear out of nowhere, light up the sky (or our lives, or our minds), pull back the curtain of doubt or confusion, and bring us to a new level of enlightenment!

Like a bolt of lightning an epiphany comes - and then, like a bolt of lightning, it is gone; leaving behind a new awareness and a sense of awe. And then life goes on.

While the moment may reveal something fantastic and be heavenly, it isn't the moment itself that is important (pleasant though it may be). What is important is what one does with the revelation. If we get too caught up in the glory of the moment, we can end up spending the rest of our lives waiting/wishing for its return (or mourning its loss). But if we allow the revelation to be paramount, if we take the information or the insight or the ah-ha and use it to motivate our ongoing thoughts and actions, then the revelation can take us to new insights, new understandings, and new moments of epiphany.

Some epiphanies seem greater than others. But I suspect that we rarely know how much of an impact an epiphany can have upon a life until we actually put the information to use. I had an epiphany yesterday. I'm sure we all did. One glorious moment of awareness.

I know what I'm doing with mine. What are you doing with yours?
